Taxis and Cathedrals Part 2

The second cathedral that we went to was the Liverpool Anglican Cathedral. It definitely looks more like a cathedral than the Metropolitan Cathedral.

It could be straight out of Harry Potter.

This big, naked statue greeted visitors at the door.

An absolutely gorgeous chapel within.

This is George. He is an artist and was making drawings of the aformentioned chapel. His drawings were absolutely gorgeous but he was a little...off. He told us about how he descended from the Vikings and how he wished he could go back to when he was a child so he could change his name to the Japanese equivalent, which was something like Dumshwa, or some such. He also had on this great blue shirt with red flames on it...with his suit.

I'm not sure how to describe what this is but it's truly magnificent! You see this as you enter the front doors and walk to the back end of the cathedral. You can see how huge it is. There is an engraving of the Last Supper on it, sans Judas.

The first of hopefully many red phone booth sightings. It was in a chapel but hey, it still counts!

We had the opportunity to go to the very top of the cathedral, which allows you to see all of Liverpool in 360 degrees. But first we had to takes a series of lifts and stairs. Here I am in a little nook on one of the landings.
And here is one of said staircases- straight out of a horror film!

On one of the floors you can see the cathedral's bells.

The view from the top was bloody magnificent!

Katie and me.

After walking around all day, we decided to walk some more. Our group took a 20 minute trek to the local grocery store, Tesco. It was a nightmare. The aisles were too small, we knew where nothing was, the cart had a mind of its own, and the people push their carts on the wrong side of the aisle! It was really a madhouse! But thankfully I found a throw for only 1.25 pounds (they don't have tops heets in Liverpool, which was throwing off my sleeping patterns). We were all pretty exhausted at this point and all turned in at 9, like good little chaps!
